In line with its commitment to advancing global education, Educational Testing Service (ETS), a world-renowned authority in educational assessment, has announced its intention to open a TOEFL and GRE test centre in Kashmir. This strategic action is intended to facilitate the pursuit of international higher education opportunities around the world.
According to the claims by ETS, it is the first time a global assessment organisation is opening up its centre in Kashmir. Earlier, students from Kashmir needed to directly visit Punjab from the valleys to appear for the TOEFL or GRE exam. This move aims to provide local students with a convenient and cost-effective option for preparing for and appearing for these vital exams.
As TOEFL and GRE scores are important in the admission process of many esteemed international universities, this centre will facilitate a smoother pathway to academic institutions worldwide. To make the journey of students smoother, ETS will further invest in partnering with agents and educational institutions in Kashmir. This step will be of much help to students in the region.
ETS’s decision to establish a TOEFL and GRE test centre in Kashmir underscores its dedication to fostering education accessibility and equity. The centre’s presence is anticipated to have a far-reaching impact, amplifying the representation of Kashmiri scholars on the global academic stage. According to Sachin Jain, country manager of ETS India and South Asia, Hashtag Educational Services was of help in setting up the testing centre in Kashmir. He further said that this testing centre is the first in the valley.
