According to a recent survey, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of Indian women going abroad to further their education, now 34% of all Indian students studying abroad are female. This pattern suggests that international education is moving in the direction of increased diversity and inclusivity.
The report claims that from 30% in FY21 to 45% in FY24, women’s access to education loans for overseas study has significantly risen. Experts have observed a significant increase in female students applying for student loans.
For Indian students, the US continues to be a top choice, especially for STEM programs. But more and more female students are looking at other countries, like the Netherlands and Japan.
The survey also revealed that state boards accounted for 57% of the pre-university education received by students who chose to study abroad. The long-held belief that students from private or foreign boards have a higher likelihood of studying overseas is refuted by this.
Growing numbers of Indian women are going overseas to study is a sign of accessibility and a shift in perspective. The availability of resources and the growth of digital access have contributed to this change.
In addition to STEM fields, Indian students are expanding their horizons by pursuing degrees in psychology, law, sport sciences, architecture, performing arts and social sciences.
Destination Preferences – Although the US, Canada and the UK are all well-liked options, Indian students are also looking into more recent travel destinations like Japan and the Netherlands.
The country’s educational environment has undergone a substantial change as more Indian women are choosing to pursue studies overseas.
