Study in New Zealand: Scholarships, Visas, and Job Opportunities Await Indian Students

Date:

New Zealand is emerging as a top destination for Indian students, thanks to its streamlined visa processes, attractive scholarships, and strong post-study work opportunities. According to a report by University Living, the country is leveraging these initiatives to attract global talent, particularly from India.

The report highlights that New Zealand’s education sector has recovered since the pandemic, with student enrolments projected to reach 95,000-100,000 by the end of 2024. This growth is driven by the government’s commitment to attracting skilled talent, with initiatives such as NZ$10,000 scholarships for high-achieving Indian students.

New Zealand’s affordability is another major draw for Indian students. Compared to countries like the US, UK, and Australia, New Zealand offers high-quality education at lower tuition fees and living costs. The report notes that the country’s student-friendly visa policies and post-study work opportunities are also attractive to Indian students.

Unlike Canada and Australia, which have introduced caps on international student intake, New Zealand encourages skilled migration by offering work rights post-graduation. Many international graduates transition into New Zealand’s workforce, filling critical skill gaps in industries like healthcare, IT, and engineering. The report projects that Indian student enrolments in New Zealand will grow by 93.9% from 2021 to 2030, making it an increasingly popular study-abroad destination. With its unique blend of academic excellence, affordability, and post-study work opportunities, New Zealand is poised to attract a growing number of Indian students in the coming years.

In fact, New Zealand’s government is actively diversifying its student base, reducing reliance on China and India by expanding recruitment efforts in Vietnam and the Philippines. This move is expected to stabilise student numbers and drive long-term growth.

Overall, New Zealand’s commitment to attracting global talent, combined with its affordability and student-friendly policies, make it an attractive destination for Indian students seeking high-quality education abroad.
