India Introduces Two New Special Category Visas for International Students

‘E-student visa’ and ‘e-student-x’ are two new special category visas that the Ministry of Home Affairs has introduced to expedite the admissions process for international students. By making it easier for foreign students to enter India, this program hopes to advance the nation’s higher education system. Foreign nationals must be accepted into full-time undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, or other formal programs at accredited Indian educational institutions in order to be eligible for the e-student visa. The government has launched the ‘Study in India’ (SII) webpage, where students can apply for these visas. Students must first register on the SII portal and receive a unique SII ID, which confirms the legitimacy of their applications, before they may apply for a visa.
