Thomas Cook (India) Limited has introduced the Borderless Prepaid Multi-Currency Travel Card, designed to offer Indian travelers a hassle-free way to manage foreign exchange while abroad. The launch comes amid a surge in outbound travel from India, with overseas travel spending reaching $17 billion in FY24.

The Borderless Travel Card supports 12 global currencies and is accepted at over 70 million Mastercard and Visa merchant locations across 200 countries. It also comes with exclusive travel benefits, including complimentary international global SIM cards, airport meet-and-greet services, free lounge access, and porter services at select international airports in India.

To enhance customer experience, the card offers additional perks, including free emergency cash assistance and card replacement in case of loss or theft. Security is a key feature, with an embedded chip and PIN ensuring safe transactions. Travellers using the card can also enjoy a 25% discount on select attractions and unique experiences.

The reward programme allows customers to earn 1,000 Thomas Cook Edge Reward Points when loading USD 1,000 (or equivalent) and up to 500 points on card spend, which can be redeemed for flights, hotels, and holidays. Additional benefits include complimentary insurance cover of up to ₹7.5 lakh and 24×7 customer support through call centres, email, and web assistance.

The card also enables free ATM withdrawals in select locations. In a move towards sustainability, it is crafted from recycled plastic, reinforcing Thomas Cook India’s commitment to environmentally friendly financial solutions.

According to Deepesh Varma, Executive Vice President – Foreign Exchange, Thomas Cook (India) Limited, “The launch of our Borderless Travel Card builds on the success of our prepaid card portfolio. The Borderless Travel Card is our strategic response to address the needs of India’s leisure segment.”

Anubhav Gupta, Senior Vice President, South Asia at Mastercard, spoke of the growing aspirations of Indian travelers, particularly from Tier 2 and 3 cities. “Mastercard Economics Institute’s research has shown that today, the number of Indians traveling abroad in a single quarter is comparable to the annual number of Indian travelers 10 years ago.”

Rishi Chhabra, Country Manager for Visa India, said, “The partnership represents a shared commitment to financial inclusion and delivering greater convenience to Indian travelers.”

The Borderless Prepaid Multi-Currency Travel Card is available at Thomas Cook India outlets and can be purchased online. With its exclusive benefits, security features, and wide acceptance, the card is set to revolutionize the way Indian travelers manage their foreign exchange while abroad.
