Australia Simplifies Study Requirements for Temporary  Graduate Visa

Date:

International students can now live, study, and work in Australia more easily after completing their studies thanks to the government’s simplification of the Temporary Graduate Visa (TGV) study requirements.

Changes have been made to the TGV program to accommodate holders of Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas. Post-Vocational Education Work (PVEW), Post-Higher Education Work (PHEW), and Second Post-Higher Education Work are the three streams into which the curriculum is separated.

International students must have finished their qualifying degree within six months of submitting their application in order to be eligible for the TGV. Students can still get a Graduate Certificate while holding a TGV, but they no longer fulfill the study requirements for the TGV.

Conversely, if a graduate diploma is connected to the same field of study and follows an Australian-awarded Bachelor, Master’s, or Doctorate degree, it can be utilized as an appropriate qualification for the TGV (PHEW stream).

Additionally, the Graduate Diploma program must be finished the same academic year as the previous degree or the following one. These modifications are intended to enhance the employment possibilities of overseas students and assist them in developing specific skills in their field of study.

The Australian government is dedicated to helping overseas students and giving them the tools they need to be successful in the workplace. It is anticipated that thousands of international students who travel to Australia annually to pursue higher education will benefit from the streamlined study requirements for the TGV.

The adjustments will also aid in addressing the skills gap in the nation and bolstering its economic expansion. The rules in effect at the time of application shall be used for evaluating international students who have already submitted a TGV application before December 14, 2024, utilizing a Graduate Diploma as their qualifying study.

The new Skills in Demand visa, which replaced the Temporary Skill Shortage visa, and other temporary residence visas may also be available to overseas students in addition to the TGV.
