In an initiative to enhance educational connections between France and India, the French government has introduced the Classes Internationales 2025 program. This program intends to enroll 30,000 Indian students over the next five years, offering them access to French higher education.
The initiative was initially revealed by French President Emmanuel Macron during his trip to Jaipur in January 2024. Macron aimed to attract 30,000 Indian students to France by 2030, raising the original target of 25,000 students by 2025.
The Classes Internationales 2025 initiative provides Indian students with a preliminary year of French language education and academic readiness. This program is available for both novice and advanced students, enabling them to enroll in French-taught undergraduate courses once they finish the preparatory program.
Key Highlights of the Programme
- Over 30 institutions: Participating institutions in France offer programmes in various fields, including arts, engineering, social sciences, and design.
- Direct access to 200 academic courses: Students who complete the programme gain direct access to over 200 academic courses.
- Apprenticeship model: Some programmes follow an apprenticeship model, where students split their time between studying and working in a company.
- Financial support: Many hiring companies cover tuition fees and provide financial support.
- Comprehensive support: The French government ensures comprehensive support for Indian students through Campus France and the French Embassy.
- Affordable fees: Public universities are tied up to allow students to study at affordable fees.
