Recent reports indicate a significant preference among Indian students for Germany over Canada as their preferred study abroad destination. This shift is particularly notable since changes in policy have led to a sharp decline in Canada’s popularity, with only 9.3% of respondents opting for it.
There is a growing demand for EU countries, with around 48.8% of students choosing to study in Europe, closely followed by the USA (27.6%) and the UK (9.5%) as popular choices. Among EU nations, Germany (32.6%) stands out as the most favoured, followed by Ireland (3.9%), France (3.3%), and other European countries. This trend reflects evolving preferences and aspirations among Indian students.
Insights into the market across tier 1 (42.8%) and tier 2 and tier 3 (57.2%) cities reveal comprehensive and intriguing information. These insights are based on the responses of over 25,000 aspirants.
The majority of study abroad aspirants have backgrounds in engineering, closely followed by commerce degrees. Regarding their work experience, 44% are fresh graduates, 23% have up to 2 years of experience, 19% have 2–6 years of experience, and 14% have over 6 years of work experience.
On the other hand, management degrees are the most sought-after programmes, chosen by 55.6% of respondents aiming to enhance their leadership capabilities. Additionally, 28.7% express interest in computer science and IT programmes in Germany.
Around 41% of aspirants come from middle-class families with budgets ranging from 16 to 25 lakhs. Furthermore, approximately 66.5% of respondents plan to secure loans to meet their study abroad requirements.
Regarding perceptions of studying abroad, 45.7% of respondents hold positive views, believing it enhances their employability and exposes them to the global job market, offering opportunities for professional growth and development.
