Indian Students Prioritize Health and STEM Programs Abroad

Date:

A recent study has shown that Indian students are increasingly prioritizing health and STEM fields when selecting to study overseas in Canada, the US, and the UK. This change shows an increasing focus on education choices directed towards careers that match the requirements of the global job market.

This trend is reflected in the US, where science and health programs have gained popularity, making up 21% and 13% of searches by Indian students, respectively. In the UK, there was a major increase in health program searches, reflecting the growth of the nation’s healthcare industry.

The rising emphasis on health and STEM courses among Indian students is fueled by the rising need for skilled professionals in these areas. Canada, for example, is expected to experience a deficit of 78,000 doctors and 117,600 nurses by the year 2031. The US provides considerably greater salaries for STEM professionals than other sectors, making these programs appealing for Indian students looking for well-paying and secure career paths.

The UK is also proactively seeking to address skill shortages in these industries, with the healthcare sector projected to create 349,000 jobs by 2035. Indian students studying in these areas can take advantage of excellent job prospects and work opportunities after graduation.

The report underscores the importance of universities emphasizing career trajectories, research possibilities, and post-study employment advantages in these crucial areas to draw Indian students. By studying abroad, Indian students can develop their prospects in high-demand careers, as Canada, the US, and the UK provide excellent job opportunities in health and STEM sectors.

As the need for skilled professionals in healthcare and STEM fields keeps increasing, Indian students are expected to stay concentrated on these subjects when deciding to pursue education overseas. Universities capable of providing robust programs and career opportunities in these areas will be favorably situated to draw outstanding talent from India.
