The second batch of the Young Professional Scheme is open to visit the UK

Date:

The UK government has invited applications for the Young Professional Scheme for Indian candidates between the ages of 18 and 30. As per the tweet from the British Commission, the ballot for applying opened on Monday and closed on Thursday by 1:30 pm.

The Young Professional Scheme launched this year for Indian citizens allows Indian students holding bachelor’s and master’s degrees to live and work in the UK. Anyone who is visiting the country is permitted to leave and re-enter the country within the validity of their visa, i.e., 2 years.

As per the reports, under this scheme, 3000 slots were made available in 2023. However, most of the slots were filled in the first batch of allocations that were conducted in February. It is anticipated that the remaining ballots will be filled in the July batch.

Candidates who are selected need to adhere to the visa requirements and should submit their visa application before the deadline. Below are listed the eligibility criteria that an individual must fulfil:

  • An individual must be an Indian citizen between the ages of 18 and 30. If anyone is turning 18 this year, then they should keep in mind that before travelling to the UK, they are 18.
  • The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher academic qualification equivalent to Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) level 6, 7, or 8.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum of 2,530 GBP to financially sustain themselves in the country.
  • Students should also make certain that they do not have anyone under the age of 18 or anyone for whom they are financially responsible.

After meeting the above-mentioned criteria, an individual needs to pay an application fee of GBP 259 for a ballot. Not only this, but an additional healthcare surcharge of GBP 940 should be covered by the candidate.

An individual should follow the steps below to apply for the Young Professional Scheme ballot:

  • Enter the ballot.
  • Candidates who are successful on the ballot will receive an invitation.
  • Candidates should provide all relevant documents for the visa application process.
  • Complete the process to apply before the specified deadline to visit the country.
