University Degrees helped 73 percent of graduates secure a job

Date:

According to 73% of university graduates in the UK, university degrees are of little help in getting them a job. Most of the students say that the support of the university was helpful in getting work opportunities.

In the wake of the cost-of-living crisis, university attendance has increased job security for nearly two-thirds of students, according to the results of a new study conducted by peak university body Universities UK.

Around 3,500 UK graduates and 3,500 business leaders were involved in the study, which ultimately suggests that social mobility can rise by attending universities. Social mobility can be helpful for those students whose families have no university education background.

78% of graduates and 71% of business leaders who participated in the research said they were the first in their family to go to university. As a result, their chances of being noticed by companies and earning a higher starting salary are greater than those of students who were not the first in their family to attend college.

The Institute of Fiscal Studies, represented on behalf of the Department of Education, indicated that an individual who was the first to go to university from a family has a higher average salary. When the comparison between the salaries was made, there was a buffer of around £3000.

Universities UK data reveals that 67% of graduates and 71% of business leaders think that pursuing higher education helps graduates gain essential transferable skills, thereby enhancing their professional careers. However, last month, the UK government announced a ban on fraudulent university degrees. Even Stern mentions that the government’s speech should not discourage students from attending university.
