The prolonged border closure in New Zealand for international students has come to an end. Since the border has reopened, the country has seen a surge in the number of visa application rates, student demand, and approval rates.

The country has an impressive website focusing on Study with New Zealand, which is user-friendly and runs a digital campaign named “I AM NEW”. Moreover, this campaign largely focuses on attracting students and parents in India, China, the US, Vietnam, Germany, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, and many more. Phase 2 of the campaign focuses primarily on the featured stories in New Zealand. The country has witnessed a hike in traffic to study with New Zealand as users increased from 75,000 in November 2022 to 295,000 in February 2023.

Immigration officials in New Zealand are processing and deciding on the increasing number of international student visas. As per the records, there were around 34,000 international students holding visas at the beginning of March 2023.

The New Zealand education department also looked at the competitor countries, as a result of which AustraliaCanadathe US, and the UK drive major students in India. According to Sahil Lamba, Country Head, New Zealand at Infinite Group, “the high-quality higher education in New Zealand is the driving factor that attracts international students.”

The volume of applications is tremendously increasing, and 125% more visas will be lodged for Indian students in 2022 compared to 2019. Apart from India, students from Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, Columbia, Indonesia, and Vietnam constitute a significant volume in the country.
