India and Australia agreed on a Migration and Mobility Partnership

Date:

The two countries, India and Australia, have sealed the deal for two-way student mobility and migration.

India and Australia have recently signed a pact to support the two-way mobility of academic researchers, students, graduates, and business executives. This came into effect during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sydney.

According to the Australian Government, a Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early Professionals Scheme has been developed primarily for India. The new partnership between India and Australia will have its headquarters in Parramatta, in Greater Western Sydney. This headquarters will act as a platform for the government to connect with government bodies, business executives, academia, and the general public.

As per the deal, Indians will be granted a two-year employment visa below the age threshold of 30 years. These individuals should possess a particular skillset and English proficiency. Moreover, the scheme’s first enrollment cap will include 3,000 students per year.

The Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement, which earlier went into effect on December 29, 2022, is going to offer 1,000 positions to students in the Work and Holiday Programme.

“Education lies at the heart of the India-Australia pact, which focuses on strengthening interpersonal ties between the countries and welcomes more students to study in Australia,” says Aashish Gulati, COO at the Infinite Group.

The Australia-India ties primarily place emphasis on education, which strengthens Australia’s capacity to maintain interpersonal relationships with India. Previously, in the year 2023, the announcement of qualification recognition between the countries was hailed as good news.

The dual-degree collaboration between BITS Pilani and RMIT led to the establishment of the Deakin University Campus in Gift City.
